Fr. Andrew Quarshie

Pastor

Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Andrew Quarshie, MDiv, DMin, was born on March 22, 1980 in Nsawam, a town in the eastern region of Ghana. He is one of eleven children.  He spent his elementary and secondary schooling in Ghana and was ordained in the Catholic Diocese of Koforidua, Ghana on September 26, 2009.  Father Andrew has a Bachelor in Sociology and Religions, a Bachelor of Theology with the Pontifical Urban University in Rome and a Master of Divinity from St. Paul’s University Ottawa. In 2024, he received his Doctor of Ministry Degree (DMin), a Doctoral Degree from the Graduate Theological Foundations specializing in Pastoral Planning and Church Management (with Principles of Organizational Development, Leadership and Management).  In 2009 Father was an Associate Pastor at St. Michael Parish in Nkawkaw (Ghana), in 2012, Assisting Priest at St. Bakhita Catholic Church in Koforidua (Ghana) and then was appointed to be the Bishop’s Secretary for the Diocese of Koforidua to the Most Reverend Joseph Afrifah-Agyekum in 2012.  For a summer placement in 2014, he went to England at St. Augustine’s Parish in Daventry.  He finally came to Canada in 2015 assisting the priest in residence at the Divine Infant Parish in Orleans and in 2016 was assigned to St. Francis Xavier Parish in Stoney Creek as an Associate Pastor.  From 2016-2018 he was assigned to Sacred Heart Parish in Walkerton as the Parochial Administrator.   At that time, he earned a Certificate in Logotherapy at the Ottawa Institute of Logotherapy.  He was then transferred as a Pastor to manage both parishes of St. Eugene and St. John the Baptist from 2018-2023. In June 2023, he came to share his joyful ministry and pastoral experiences with Our Lady of The Assumption bringing with him his special greeting of “GOD is Good ALL the Time and ALL the Time GOD is Good”.  Father is the author of “Daily Wellspring”: Some Devotional, Inspirational and Motivational Reflections (Author House, USA 2015).  Father Andrew is multilingual and speaks English, Ewe, Twi and Fante.  Father loves to travel and explore, he enjoys music, singing, dancing, playing table tennis, walking and meeting people.

Fr. Dominic Thomas CMI

Associate Pastor

Father Dominic, is a member of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI) congregation, belonging to St. John’s CMI Province in Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, India. He was ordained as a priest on January 6th, 1997 and holds a Master of Arts (MA) in English and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB). Fr. Dominic is a registered lawyer and member of the Supreme Court Bar Association in New Delhi, and practiced law at the Supreme Court of India. In 2008, he obtained a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Mumbai, India, and in 2018, he earned a Diploma in Development Leadership from Coady International Institute, St. Francis Xavier University, Antigonish, Nova Scotia here in Canada. Fr. Dominic has served in various roles, including as a regional secretary of CEVA (Cyriac Ellias Voluntary Association) NRO, New Delhi, coordinating projects in 21 NGOs (Non-Government Organizations) across India, with collaboration with the German government. He has also served as Director of Chavara Seva Samaj (CSS) NGO, Manager of St. Thomas School, and Parish Priest at St. Thomas Church in the Diocese of Meerut.  He has managed St. Mary’s School in Gadarpur, Uttarakhand, India, and served as a Parish Priest at Carmel Church, Gadarpur, in the Diocese of Bareilly. Fr. Dominic has also worked as Director/ Priest In – Charge of Amal Ashram Mission Station in Gopeshwar, Uttarakhand, India, where he engaged in relief and rehabilitation efforts following an earthquake.  In 2021-2023, Fr. Dominic had the opportunity to work as an Assistant Parish Priest in the Archdiocese of Santarem – Brazil, enjoying his experience working in the South American Amazon Region.  Fr. Dominic came to share his ministry and experiences with our Parish community in April 2024.

Fr. Richard Dordunu

Associate Pastor

Father Richard Kwabena Dordunu was ordained into the Catholic Ministerial Priesthood by the Most Rev. Joseph Afrifah-Agyekum on December 9, 2006 in the Catholic Diocese of Koforidua in the Eastern Region Ghana (West Africa). Father is one of 11 siblings and was born on May 1, 1977. He attended St. Paul Major Seminary in Accra, the capital of Ghana and St. Peter’s Regional Seminary in Cape Coast where he earned a Diploma in Theological Studies and a Diploma in Education in 2006. He was an Associate Pastor at Holy Trinity Parish in Agormanya in the Eastern Region of Ghana from 2007 – 2009, a Priest in-charge at St. Stephen Quasi Parish with 10 missions, from November 2009 to October 2017, and Pastor at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Effiduase, to over three thousand families from November 2017 to 2024. Father also has spent 2 months Summer Placements in the United States of America in 2014, 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023. He is currently the Diocesan Spiritual Director of St. Anthony’s Guild, Diocesan Spiritual Director for the Sacred Heart of Jesus Confraternity, Diocesan Transport Committee Member, and Administrator for the Koforidua Diocesan Priests’ Association Business Centre until June, 2024. Dean of the Koforidua Deanery and Vice President of the Koforidua Diocesan Priests’ Association. Father takes an interest in Pastoral ministry, preaching, listening to music, singing as he says (with his bad voice), reading, visiting the sick and aged and is always interested in innovative activities. Fr. Richard came to share his ministry and experiences with our Parish community in December 2024.

Deacon Joseph Gigliotti

Deacon

Deacon Joe Gigliotti serves the Diocese of Hamilton with gratitude and dedication after being ordained to the permanent diaconate on August 14, 2020. He lives in Stoney Creek, where he has been self-employed for over 40 years in the automotive repair industry.

He and his wife, Nadia, have been married for 46 years and are the proud parents of four children and grandparents to (soon-to-be) twelve. Deacon Joe draws inspiration for his ministry from the example of his former priest, Father Bill Trusz, whose guidance played a meaningful role in his formation.

Rooted in faith, family, and service, Deacon Joe is honoured to walk alongside the people of his parish in their spiritual journey.
